Umm Al Quwain (UAQ) residents have demanded Public Works Department of the emirate to remove vehicles which have been left abandoned by the owners and those offered for sale but parked in front of the buildings.

The department confirmed that it would run a campaign in cooperation with the Traffic Department and General Command of Umm Al Quwain Police to remove those vehicles as soon possible and also fine the vehicle owners.

Ali Abu Mohammed, an Umm Al Quwain resident, said free parking is for public but all this place is occupied by the abandoned cars and those offered for sale by the owners, hence depriving the residents from parking their vehicles at a safe place.

Misbah Hamid, Director-General of the Public Works Department in Umm Al Quwain, said the vehicle owners are informed through advertisements in the media otherwise their vehicles will be confiscated and will be released only after the fine is paid by the owner.

The fine is doubled if the owner doesn’t claim his vehicle even after the repeated warnings.

He explained that the Public Works Department in Umm Al Quwain was currently considering several solutions to solve this problem.
