Abdullah bin Zayed meets Yemeni FM

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, has met with Abdul Malik Abdul Jalil Al Mukhlafi, Deputy Prime Minister of Yemen and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers at the Arab League's Secretariat-General in Cairo, the two sides reviewed the latest regional and international developments, as well as the humanitarian situation and its repercussions on those affected by the violence being carried out against civilians as part of the Al Houthi and Ali Saleh coup d'etat.

Sheikh Abdullah and Abdul Malik Al Mukhlafi also exchanged views on the latest and current developments at the regional and international levels.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan was briefed by the Yemeni Foreign Minister on the latest developments on political negotiations and the ongoing escalation by the militias and their continued blockade and their prevention of aid relief, food and medicine supplies to reach civilians in the province of Taiz.

Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the UAE's historical position to support Yemen and its people, its support of the legitimacy of Yemen, the return of security and stability to the brotherly nation, and for safeguarding its sovereignty and unity. Sheikh Abdullah also stressed the strong relations that the two brotherly peoples share.

Sheikh Abdullah went on to reiterate the UAE's keenness in supporting and assisting the people in Yemen overcome the adversity, chaos, sabotage and deteriorating humanitarian situation facing them there.

On behalf of his government, the Yemeni Foreign Minister expressed his thanks and gratitude to the UAE and countries of the Arab Coalition led by Saudi Arabia for standing with Yemen, its leadership and the legitimate government of Yemen, as well as supporting the restoration of the country and resuming the political process, in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outputs of the comprehensive Yemeni National Dialogue, Riyadh Conference and the unconditional implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216 (2015).

The meeting was attended by Abdullah bin Mohammed Saeed Ghobash, Minister of State.
