Abu Dhabi authorities have warned the public against slaughtering sheep and other cattle in open areas and said its abattoirs are the only authorised places for slaughtering, 'Al Khaleej' newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The Abu Dhabi Municipality issued the warning as Eid Al Adha draws closer and Muslims prepare to sacrifice livestock for the occasion.
The Municipality said it had increased staff at its abattoirs to brace for Eid Al Adha, which is expected to start around the middle of November.
“Random slaughtering of livestock in the streets poses serious threats to public health, distort the image of the Capital and cause infectious diseases.”
