Abu Dhabi declares holiday on February 17

The General Secretariat of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council issued a circular on Wednesday announcing that the local government departments will observe a holiday on  February 17 to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him).

Though the birthday, which is celebrated on 12th Rabial Awwal of the Islamic calendar, falls on Tuesday February 14, it has been decided that the holiday will be observed on Thursday at the end of the week.

The General Secretariat offered greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and the people of UAE on this occasion.
