Abu Dhabi has raced to the number four position in a new global survey that rates the world’s top cities to visit, work and live in.

Ipsos Mori’s ‘Top Cities’ study also sees the capital rise to the number three spot, just after London and New York as the best place to do business.

In the overall category, Abu Dhabi was beaten by New York, London and Sydney in the first to the third positions, respectively.

Abu Dhabi came in with a 47 per cent score on the overall cities index, losing to London and Sydney by five per cent.

Saudi Arabia voted for the capital as its top city of choice, while Spain and Italy made it their second choice; people in Brazil supported Abu Dhabi by making it their third choice.

The research was based on an international sample of 18,147 adults aged 18-64 in the US and Canada, and age 16-64 in all other countries.

Sample size is approximately 1,000 per country of the 24 countries participating, with the exception of Argentina, Belgium, Hungary, Indonesia, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden and Turkey, where each have a sample approximately 500+.
