Abu Dhabi University, ADU, announced on Thursday its plans to open a new campus in Dubai offering master’s degree programmes in law, business and engineering.

The announcement was made during ADU’s participation at Gulf Education & Training Exhibition, GETEX, the leading student recruitment event that’s currently underway in Dubai.

The university’s expansion drive is aligned with its strategy to promote academic excellence and continuous growth. It is based on intensive studies that identify the current and future requirements of the labour market as well as the growing demand for higher education and postgraduate programmes in disciplines, such as business administration, engineering, law, literature and science.

Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Abu Dhabi University’s Executive Board, said, "The opening of our new campus in Dubai articulates the vision of the UAE's wise leadership to galvanise efforts towards building a knowledge-based economy and foster a culture of innovation that ensures sustainable economic growth for future generations. It also follows the blueprint laid by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and President of Abu Dhabi University's Board of Regents to make ADU a national academic institution that contributes to preparing qualified graduates who actively participate in shaping the future of our nation."

"Today, our academic institutions play a significant role in building knowledge-based economies, achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life. These mandates make concerted efforts to promote scientific research and implement the national strategy for innovation, beginning with our students and continuing to broader society and various economic segments," he added.

"Achieving excellence and retaining the country's top position in global competitiveness indicators necessitate delivering world-class higher education. Being ranked among the top 750 academic institutions worldwide as per Quacquarelli Symonds, QS, world university rankings, our multi-discipline academic programmes ensure that 90 percent of our graduates secure a job opportunity within one year of their graduation. In attracting thousands of participants, GETEX serves as the ideal platform to announce the opening of our new campus in Dubai. It is also a perfect opportunity for us to renew our shared commitment to preparing a new generation of qualified future leaders who will ensure optimal utilisation of our capabilities and resources through offering advanced higher education programmes for our student community," Al Dhaheri said.

The university currently has about 7,000 students from 70 nationalities studying in its Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses.

Abu Dhabi University's pavilion at GETEX 2017 has registered a high footfall from visitors and students. The annual event is expected to draw the participation of 35,000 visitors seeking to learn more about the available programmes.
