A Pakistani assistant welder claimed before the Dubai Criminal Court that he mistakenly touched a woman’s breast in the lift.

According to the Prosecution, the 36-year-old is accused of molesting a 27-year-old Filipina saleswoman and stealing her mobile phone.

MS denied molesting the woman before the jury Presided by Judge Al Saeed Mohammed Barghouth. He said: “I am not a molester. I mistakenly touched her breast. I did not mean to do so.”

When the judge asked for explanation, MS said: "Sir, while she walked out of the lift, I was putting my hand forward and I mistakenly and unintentionally touched her."

However, MS confessed he stole the mobile phone.

The victim testified that the incident happened when she returned home in Al Muraqabbat around 11.30pm. She said: "I walked into the lift and pressed on the fourth floor button...suddenly a man walked in behind me. I got scared and turned back wanting to walk out from the elevator. He grabbed my arm and held me back to the wall...he started molesting me...and kissed my neck. I resisted and kicked really hard but he continued groping me. I grabbed my phone wanting to call the police, but he snatched it and ran away."

An Emirati first corporal, who questioned the suspect, testified: "MS admitted to me that he followed the Filipina when he saw her walking in Al Muraqabbat area. He then chased her into the building until she reached a small corridor and allegedly molested her even as she resisted."

The court adjourned the case until January 11 for verdict.
