The Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Adac) has commenced redevelopment of Al Bateen Executive Airport in anticipation of further increase in traffic.

Phase 1 of the project is tailored to the necessary developments needed to accommodate the second Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November.

The GCAA-certified Al Bateen Executive Airport has announced a 34.4 per cent increase in aircraft movements in the first six months of this year, in comparison to the same period in 2009.

"Al Bateen Executive Airport will offer free landing and parking to all visiting VIP aircraft using the Executive Terminal for the duration of the 2010 Formula 1 event in Abu Dhabi between the 11th and the 14th of November,” Yousif Al Hammadi, Deputy General manager, Al Bateen Executive Airport, said.

"The airport has shown exceptional growth for the first half of 2010, generating 3,973 commercial traffic movements which are 34.3 per cent ahead of last year, with all based operators seeing excellent performances,"  Said Mohammed Al Bulooki, Vice President of Al Bateen Executive Airport.

The airport's strategic location, providing businessmen with access to the central business district of the city, is the main benefit of this facility. Having access to a private customized airport also provides the ability to save time, offering short transits and waiting times for the aircraft, maximizing time in Abu Dhabi. In addition, the VIP terminal at Al Bateen Executive Airport provides passengers with flexible and fast immigration and security services, thus enabling them to leave the executive airport within few minutes of landing.
