Afraid of found smoking, teen jumped from 13th floor

A 13-year-old teenager has jumped to his death from the 13th floor apartment of his family in Sharjah.

Police said the boy, of Philippines nationality, died on the spot. The body has been taken to the forensic lab to determine the cause of death. Police is awaiting the coroner’s final report.

According to the police, the boy’s father said he had threatened to beat the boy after he caught him smoking a cigarette.

Meanwhile, a construction worker fell to his death from the eighth floor of a building under construction in Sharjah.

According to Sharjah Police, the accident happened in the Mamzar area near a branch of Sharjah Islamic Bank at around 2.30pm on Sunday.

Police found the dead body of the worker lying on the ground. Police said the dead man was a 43-year-old Indian citizen, identified as “TC”.

The body has been taken to the Sharjah Police Forensic Laboratory for inspection by a pathologist  to determine the cause of death .
