Ajman Police has decided to reduce the speed of traffic on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street, extending from Sheikh Khalifa Bridge to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road point, to 90 kms per hour. The new rule will be implemented from Friday, May 1.
Colonel Ali Hamid Almuseibi, Director of Traffic Department, said: "The decision comes as part of a strategy to ensure safety and curb the number of deaths due to accidents.”
This street has seen 2,149, serious and minor traffic accidents in 2014, due to over speeding and not leaving enough distance between vehicles.
Almuseibi added that following the new speed limits, new radars will be placed to keep track of traffic offenders and ensure safety of people.
He has urged drivers to ensure that they leave enough distance between vehicles, adhere to the speed limit and follow traffic rules at all times in order to promote the safe passage.
