Ajman fire brought under control

LATEST:  Ajman Civil Defence has confirmed to Emirates 24|7 that the fire that broke out in the two residential towers in Ajman has been successfully brought under control and cooling efforts are now underway at the site.

There were no casualties. Two men and a woman suffered minor injuries. They were given first aid near the site of the fire, taken to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital and discharged on Tuesday morning.

Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, oversaw efforts by the civil defence to put out fire that broke out in a tower complex in Ajman’s Al Sawan area late on Monday.

The government of Ajman will arrange alternative accommodation for all residents of the towers.

The fire broke out at around 9.45pm on Monday evening in tower No.8 and then spread to tower No.6 because of strong winds.

The firefighting teams, headed by the Director-General of Ajman Civil Defence Brigadier Saleh Al Matroushi, moved to the scene immediately and started the firefighting and evacuation operations.

EARLIER REPORT:

A major fire has erupted in two residential buildings in Ajman near Al Merqab Roundabout on Monday evening.

 

According to eyewitnesses, Ajman and Sharjah civil defence teams had already reached the scene to put out the fire.

The fire in Ajman Towers in Rashidiya 3 gutted a number of apartments.

Police had closed the road around the buildings for traffic and helicopters were also deployed to monitor the fire.
