The Ministry of Interior has called on all UAE nationals, residents and GCC nationals to register for the ‘E-gate service’, which ensures the speedy processing of passenger entry and exit through Passport Control & Immigration.

Registration begins Sunday 9th of June, from 10am to 10pm and requires a valid passport.

The Ministry of Interior said the registration will take place in the following locations: in Abu Dhabi: Marina Mall from 9th to 13th of June, Abu Dhabi Mall from 23rd to 27th of June, Wahda Mall from 7th to 11th of July, Khalidya Mall from 21st to 25th of July, Mushrif Mall from 4th to 8th of August, Delma Mall from 18th to 22nd of August, Bawabat Al Sharq from 1st to 5th of September.

Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of the Central Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police, stated the E-gate project follows the directives by Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, stressing that the modern gate system facilitates safe travel procedures.

He added, "This project is uniquely applied in the UAE, the first country in the world to utilise the vital print registration mechanism, i.e. retinal scan, hand print and face print."

The E-Gate system offers a smooth travel procedure and saves time, thanks to the modern technology, and helps travelers finalise their procedures in less than 20 seconds.

The first phase has already been applied at the Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in gates 1 and 3 at the Arrival and Departure. Assistance has also been assigned near the gates in order to ensure comfort for travels.
The project is set to expand to all UAE's airports at a later stage.

Al Raissi added that an awareness campaign has been organised to introduce the project to the public, noting that the campaign provides free registration for all society segments, nationals and residents as well.

The gates allow registration and entry for children from the age of 5 and above. The gates are also easy-to-use for disabled people.
