American seriously hurt using mobile while driving

An American man was seriously injured after his car banged into a truck on Dubai-Al Ain motorway while he was using his mobile phone.
 
Police said the unnamed American admitted that he was using his mobile phone moments before his vehicle rammed into the truck on the road last week.
 
“He said that he was using his mobile phone while driving and that he could not control his car when ahead of him suddenly slowed down,” the Arabic language daily ‘Al Bayan’ said, quoting Dubai’s traffic police chief Colonel Saif Al Mazroui.
 
He said the American was rushed to hospital in a serious condition after the front part of his car was totally damaged on impact.
 
“We again call on all motorists not to use their mobile phones while driving….it detracts their attention and causes major accidents…many drivers think they can control their vehicles while using their mobile phones but they are mistaken,” he said.
