Bentley to join Dubai Police's Lamborghini?

It was only a matter of time before the next instalment of supercars were unveiled as latest additions to the Dubai Police fleet, which has already undergone a stylish makeover that would do any fashion house proud.

 

After shifting gear to include a Chevrolet Camaro, a BMW 5 series, a Lamborghini Aventador and a Ferrari FF, news is that a Bentley and a Mercedes SLS are to cruise into the police garages.

 

A leaked image has surfaced online, showing both the models in pristine white in a similar garage to where the earlier cars were spruced up with the Dubai Police insignia.

 

While no official statement has yet been made on the two new additions to the sporty family of patrol cars, a source with knowledge to the makeover has confirmed the authenticity of the image and reiterated that the Bentley Continental GT and Mercedes SLS are the new additions.

Prominent lawyer, Dr Habib Al Mulla has also tweeted the same, saying: “Dubai Police is adding a Bentley and a Mercedes SLS to its supercar fleet.”

 

The source also revealed that several new additions the patrol fleet will be unveiled in the coming weeks, with many cars being offered to the authorities to make these city streets safer in a stylish way.

 

Twitter world has already offered up several suggestions, with the Bugatti Veyron emerging as the top choice for the family offspring, followed by a Porsche 911 Turbo and the Audi R8 Spyder.

 

Earlier this month, Dubai Police unveiled images of the Camaro and the Beemer 5 series on its official Facebook and Twitter accounts, as part of a public campaign to spruce up the supercar patrolling fleet.

 

Later, the authority brought traffic to a standstill when the Lamborghini Aventador took to the streets with its number ‘8’license plate, and full regalia in the green and white colours of the government institution.

 

The Ferrari FF was unveiled a few days later.

 

Lt General Dhahi Khalfan Al Tamim, Dubai’s police chief, said the luxury sports cars were slated to be used for security purposes, with the Ferrari FF being driven by female patrol officers.

 

With a fleet that is geared to hit 0-100kms in 3.5 seconds or so, even if a high-speed chase is not on the road map, few would try to out run these mean machines.

 

Incidentally, the Lamborghini Aventador retails for approximately Dh2 million, while the Ferrari FF is close to Dh900,000.
