An Emirati woman who was driving her car on Emirates Road in Dubai decided to act when she saw two Asian men on a motorcycle carrying sharp metal bars and pushing their way through the busy street.
She pulled out her mobile phone and filmed them. She then sent the film straight to the Dubai traffic police by MMS, saying that she thought it was a dangerous practice by the two who also did not have their head helmets on.
The police reaction was swift. They summoned the motorcycle owner, who told them he owns many motorcycles for rent business.
After identifying the two, police decided to impose two fines on them for failing to wear their head helmets and for carrying dangerous items on a motorcycle. They also warned the two that the motorcycle would be confiscated in case the offence is repeated.
“I would like to thank that woman for her action which allowed the police to reach those offenders,” Dubai traffic police chief Major General Mohammed Al Zafin said, quoted by the Sharjah-based Alkhaleej newspaper.
