An Afghan businessman allegedly offered Dh10,000 bribe to two police officers for not arresting him for consuming alcohol.

NM, 22, denied offering a bribe to two police officers but admitted to drinking three glasses of vodka.

KM, officer at Criminal Investigation Department, Jebel Ali Police Station testified before the prosecution that at about 3.15am on February 23, he went to a McDonald's with his colleagues to buy some food and he spotted the defendant harassing some girls there.

They approached the defendant, showed him their police IDs, and asked him to go out to talk to him.
They smelled alcohol while talking to NM. NM offered KM Dh10,000 if they let him go, testified the officer.

WA repeated the same testimony adding that when they drove NM to the police station, he again offered them a bribe.

The court adjourned the case until June 14.
