A car fell into a ditch dug up for the water pipeline project in Khorfakkan, injuring four passengers.

Colonel Dr. Ahmed Saeed  Al Na’our, chief of Khorfkan Police, said the Operations Room received a communication at 12:15am on Saturday about a vehicle falling into a roadside trench excavated for the public works.

Police and ambulance patrols immediately moved to the accident site, where they saw a Toyota FJ Cruiser lying inside the ditch.

According to initial police investigation, the vehicle fell into the hole after a sudden deviation due to lack of concentration of the driver.

Colonel Dr Ahmed Saeed called on drivers to concentrate while driving. He also asked the companies involved in the public works to display safety and cautionary instruction signboard on the roads.

Among the injured people are a 33-year-old Emirati and three Pakistani nationals. All four sustained minor injuries.

The injured passengers were quickly transferred to a Khorfakan hospital.
