Children testify against mother over maid's death

An Emirati woman punched and kicked her housemaid to death in Ras Al Khaimah before dumping her in the house’s back garden.

The woman denied in court she has anything to do with the maid’s death but her sons testified that she was screaming at the maid and kicking her.

One boy said they were having breakfast and his mother kept going out to the back garden to check the maid, thinking she was pretending.

The court found that the woman attacked her maid for alleged negligence in her work and that she had the chance to save her life by calling an ambulance.

“Instead she left her in the garden dying. Forensic examination showed the maid had been kicked, punched and hit by a blunt object in the stomach,” the Dubai-based daily Emarat Al Youm said, adding that court hearings were adjourned to December 14.
