Khalifa Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Director of Public Health, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, said: "The Municipality has allocated a veterinarian crew to perform necessary checkups on all animals, and offer assistance and medical advice to buyers, besides training butchers and workers on food safety and personal hygiene. Slaughterhouses also undergo comprehensive cleaning and sterilization on daily basis, especially after the slaughtering process in keeping with the best health global standards, besides ensuring the sound disposal of slaughtering waste to prevent environmental pollution.

Slaughtering fees will remain the same as follows; Dh15 per goat/sheep, Dh40 per calf/young camel, and Dh60 per older cow/camel.
The Municipality will open the second slaughtering hall in Abu Dhabi Public Slaughterhouse at Al Mina to the public to accommodate the huge number of slaughtered animals, as well as the second slaughtering hall in Bani Yas Slaughterhouse.

It is worth mentioning that Al Wathba Modern Slaughterhouse will offer its services to the public for the first time during Eid Al Adha this year.

Director of Public Health, ADM, called on the public to abstain from slaughtering in houses, public places or beyond licensed slaughterhouses.

Slaughter sacrificial animals only at 3 Dubai Municipality abattoirs

Dubai Municipality has reiterated its urge to public not to do sacrificial slaughter outside the official 3 slaughter houses located in Al-Qusais, Lisiely and Hatta as the Eid celebrations approaching near.

Dubai Municipality officials said that slaughtering outside the abattoirs will pose big threat to public health & safety.

Ahmed Hasan Al-Shammari, head of the abattoirs section urged public not to depend on people who are wandering through streets offering slaughter services.

“We have noticed that during Eid days some people contact households claiming that they are skilled in slaughtering activities; we strictly warns all citizens and residents not to put your food on risk” he said.

He said contacting this people is an activity that leads to health risks and can’t be a characteristic of  city like Dubai, at any case.

He said Dubai Municipality has 3 abattoirs where slaughtering services are done according to globally approved health & safety standards and with nominal charges.

All the Dubai abattoirs located in Al-Qusais, Lisiely and Hatta are following strict scientific and technical procedure to ensure that safe food is prepared and distributed on the days of celebration.

Answering to a question, he said the abattoir which was functioning in Bur Dubai is now closed and public in the area have to depend the remaining three.

He also said, considering the possible traffic congestion on the Eid days abattoir section has made some arrangements collaborating with other government departments to ease the movement of vehicles.

“As we expect more traffic during the days of Eid, we have made some arrangements. The entrance and exit  from the cattle market will be from Aman street through gate No.1 as well as entry to the abattoir is through gate No.3 from Halab street”, he said.
