Company manager, staff held for visa violation

Abu Dhabi authorities arrested a company manager and 25 workers employed by the firm in airport services for violating visa rules in the country, the Arabic language daily Alittihad reported on Tuesday.

It quoted court sources as saying the unidentified manager hired 25 Asian and African expatriates who entered on visit visas to work for his company in transporting baggage and collecting trolleys at Abu Dhabi airports.

The paper said the prosecution is demanding that the 25 workers are deported and the company manager is fined Dh50,000 for each worker.

“The manager gave them an illegal job in violation of visa rules and paid them only around Dh600 a month each,” it said.
