A part of Al Corniche Street in Sharjah will be closed for traffic from January 6 (Tuesday) until January 17 for maintenance purposes, said Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Sharjah.

Part of the road that will be shut runs parallel to Al Majaz 3 area, bordering Al  Lagoon lake.

Maintenance work will be carried out on a three-lane pedestrian strip covering a width of 10,95 meters, however, the entire street will be closed for traffic, said the RTA.

Maintenance work involves addition of new pedestrian crossings that conform to the highest standards and specifications, as well as the re-asphalting of the road and painting of road marks.

Focus will also be on the existing crossings. Motorists are urged to be cautious and adhere to traffic rules.

The closure forms stage 3 of a larger road maintenance project in Majaz area, with earlier road improvements carried out on Al Intifada Street and Omar Abu Risha Street, said the authority.
