The use of credit card or debit card in du outlets will soon be an option of the past, as the shops will no longer accept the card payment from next month.

Customers will still be able to use their credit card when utilizing other payment channels.

“We want to improve the customer’s experience in our shops. The idea is to divert customers’ payments to all other channels available,” said Maher Murad, Vice President of Retail Sales at du.

There are currently several options for the du subscriber to pay the bill. The bill can be paid online, where the customer needs to login to an account and pay by credit card.

Another option is payment over the phone, where you make the transfer by simply entering your credit card number.

The customer can register any GCC credit card at any of the du shops or save it on 'Selfcare' and the bills will be charged automatically to the card, or payment can be made though the bank, if this bank is listed as a partner of du.

“We also have a few thousand outlets partnering with du, where payments can be made. These outlets will continue to accept credit card payments, because these are businesses specialised in the exchange of money.

"However, we aim to make our Du shops specialised centers, where we can meet specific customers’ demands,” said Maher.

Within the next two weeks, credit card payment may also be accepted at the Quick Pay machine of du, ATM-like machines payment machines that can be found in malls, gas stations and other locations.

“We have more than 500 Quick Pay machines, where the customer can deposit money to pay for his bills. Within the coming two weeks, these machines might also accept credit cards," said Maher.

Du currently has about 6.45 million subscribers and receives 120,000 payments per month all together. "Credit card payments form only a small part of this total, the majority of payments is made in cash," Maher adds.

The exact date and details will be announced by du soon.
