Crowding at accident site by drivers may be treated as traffic rule offence

The Federal Traffic Council has issued a number of recommendations to consider some actions of drivers as traffic rule offences.

These include blocking movement of traffic, using vehicle for purposes other than intended and not taking safety measures after accidents.

Besides these, it has also been recommended that crowding of drivers at accident sites to watch damaged vehicles or injured people and loading vehicles with inflammable materials be treated as offences.

This came during a meeting of the Federal Traffic Council held recently at the Officers Club in Dubai, chaired by Maj. Gen. Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Assistant Adjutant General for Operations.

The meeting also recommended unification and simplification of car number plates across the UAE and patrolling of roads linking the various including like Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road.

During the meeting, Major General Zafeen also called for a study of accidents and their causes.
