Cycling in Sharjah – how not to do it
Sharjah Traffic Police has confiscated 227 bicycles within a week of launching its campaign, reported Al Khaleej newspaper.
Major Abdallah Al Monzeri, Director of the Traffic Coordination Department of External Roads in Sharjah Police, said the campaign was aimed at reducing the problem of cyclists crossing roads carelessly and causing serious accidents.
He said accidents happened due to cyclists’ non-observance of the rules of safety and security.
He appealed to all bicycle users to take all adequate safety measures for their protection, including the use of the helmet, and abide by traffic rules.
