Dad, son die as car rams into their vehicle

Tragedy struck an Indian family in Dubai when the father and his nine-year-old son died after their car was hit by a speeding 4-wheel vehicle from behind.

The man’s wife and second son also suffered from serious injuries in the accident in Al Muhaisna industrial zone on Monday night.

Police said the 45-year-old Indian was driving his car on that road when the vehicle rammed into them, causing his car to hit the steel barrier on the road.

“The victims were trapped inside the car. Police patrols and civil defence managed to pull them out but two of the family members died,” said Colonel Ahmed bin Galitha, director of Al Qusais police station.

He said the driver of the other vehicle denied he was speeding on that road and that he hit the Indian man’s car after he tried to avert another speeding car.

Emarat Al Youm daily said the father works in Dubai and that his wife and sons were visiting him, adding that they were planning to return home soon.
