Death penalty for human traffickers demanded

The Dubai Criminal Court will hear the testimony of two African girls who were victims of human trafficking and forced into prostitution.

The accused are two Ghanaians and a Nigerian who also faces a rape charge. One of the Ghanaians is a woman.

The prosecution has demanded the death penalty for two of the accused.

The case dates back to last August when Dubai Police received a tipoff about the human traffickers.

The prosecution said in its memorandum: “The accused exploited the two girls sexually when they arrived into the UAE and forced them to work as prostitutes.

The public prosecutor added, “The Nigerian raped one of the two girls and that the Ghanaian woman, with the assistance of the other two seized the girls’ documents and passports and forced them to obey.”
