Dh31 million given to the jobless in UAE
Over the last five years, up to March 2016, job seekers received Dh30.9 million in assistance from the Zakat Fund.
Abdullah bin Aqueeda Al Muhairi, Secretary-General of the Fund, said the fund was working to launch programmes that deliver ultimate goals of the third pillar of Islam as per the directives of the UAE leadership to bring happiness to members of the community and promote concepts of social responsibility.
''The assistance is mainly given to breadwinners who are in need of a source of income to support their families,'' he added.
