DSG automates operations of Dubai Ambulance
Now medical staff of Dubai ambulance can send requests from their iPad devices directly to warehouses from any location and transmit notices via e-mail to warehouse storekeepers.
Dubai Smart Government (DSG) has announced that its IT team supervising Government Resources Planning (GRP) systems has completed the application of GRP solutions for the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (Dubai Ambulance). The project automates Dubai Ambulance operations related to purchasing, internal requests, and accounts.
The move forms part of DSG’s mission of offering cutting-edge technological solutions for the basic operations of Dubai’s government departments. The comprehensive integration between these departments being facilitated by DSG aligns with the emirate’s eTransformation vision.
The automation process, which complements the move towards a smart government, now enables medical staff of Dubai ambulance to send requests from their iPad devices directly to warehouses from any location and transmit notices via e-mail to warehouse storekeepers. The improved capability supports Dubai ambulance’s primary need to have its requests promptly processed and its requirements met by warehouses as fast as possible. This avoids the confusion resulting from a long queue of ambulance vehicles.
Preparations for the project – which comprises applications for warehouse operations, electronic supplying, fixed assets, purchasing, and account receipts – commenced on May 2013. The Account Receipts application will be activated in October 2014, followed by those for warehousing, purchasing and electronic supplying in November 2014. The fixed assets application will be available by February 2014.
The GRPS team has identified the key elements for implementing the technical process, including servicing 1,100 users who will submit internal requests from two large warehouses: the Main Warehouse and the Rashid Hospital Warehouse. The implementation phase is expected to start ahead of schedule as soon as the expert team performs the necessary technical procedures to transform the current paper-based requests to a completely automated workflow using mobile phones.
Once completed, the automated process will be capable of handling over 3,200 internal quests, 3,100 internal exchange orders, around 21,000 request-lines (requests related to specific needs from warehouses), 110 purchasing orders, and 250 account receipts.

They aim to implement the necessary electronic systems needed by Dubai’s government entities to seamlessly handle their internal resources and departments in line with the latest and best management standards.”
“The implementation of systems designed to benefit Dubai Ambulance complements the concept of an integrated government. The new automation process is perfectly connected to the systems we formerly provided for the Corporation through our Support Services Centre. This latest collaboration continues a long-standing partnership we have had with Dubai Ambulance wherein our GRPS department has been providing systems for payments, human resources and payroll, all of which are operated by the Support Service Center of the Financial department,” added Bin Humaidan.
Khalifa bin Dari, Executive Director of Dubai Ambulance, commended the role of DSG in cooperation with Dubai Ambulance in implementing the first phase of service automation in record time.
DSG’s GRPS department provides technological solutions for the basic operations of 34 local government departments. These systems serve as foundations for the comprehensive integration among Dubai’s government departments and authorities in line with the fulfillment of Dubai’s eTransformation vision. In its latest project for Dubai Ambulance, the department launched shared solutions for human resources, payroll, finance, logistics, and asset management, among others. A team of government experts has been assigned to apply the systems and make additional improvements for use in areas such as training, technical support, and consultancy.
