The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) will open the Al Jadaf and Creek stations on the Green Line of the Dubai Metro this Saturday, March 1, 2014.
By operating these two final stations, the RTA will be completing the operation of all the Dubai Metro stations, the Authority said in a media statement today.
“Al Jadaf and Creek stations; which are located at the end of the Green Line track, serve existing projects and others under construction such as the Culture Village and Sama Al Jadaf, and they will also serve the Dubai Festival City through operating a marine transit service linking with the Creek Station,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA.
“Al Wasl Club will also be linked with Al Jadaf Station through a bus route to be operated when matches are held. The RTA has provided 100 parking slots at Al Jadaf Station, besides providing a bus route to serve passengers of the two stations,” he added.
The Al Jadaf and Creek stations are amongst the elevated metro stations where the concourse and platform are on the upper level of the elevated metro track. Each station extends 132 meters in length and 29 meters in width, and has a capacity to handle 11,000 passengers per hour per direction. The two stations are fitted with escalators as well as lifts.
“Operating these two stations will contribute significantly to expediting the development tempo in the neighbourhood, and accordingly the ridership will pick up gradually as per the foreseeable inputs. The daily ridership of Al Jadaf Station is forecasted as 2,100 riders per day, whereas the Creek Station is expected to be used by about 1,400 riders every day.
"However, these numbers are poised to double up exponentially with the opening of property development projects, some of which are nearing completion,” added Al Tayer.
“Through the Dubai Metro operator Serco Co., the RTA has completed all arrangements related to the operation of the two stations by carrying out technical test runs of the metro including testing the communication systems, automatic operation systems, power feed system, and the air-conditioning system among others.
"It has also finalised the appointment of 16 employees to man the two metro stations and they have already been deployed at site after undergoing intense training exposures on delivering customers service, implementing regulations drawn up by the RTA to protect the facilities, and enforcing the rules against offenders,” he said.
Coordination has also been made with the Transport Security Dep’t to deploy security personnel at the two stations to ensure the security and safety of the metro riders. Moreover, teams of Emergency Services (Civil Defence, Ambulance and Rescue) made field visits to the two stations to know more about them and the surroundings.
RTA integrates private limousine services into the booking and dispatch service
Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has started the integration of VIP and private limousine service into the booking and dispatch service.
RTA has tentatively started linking a host of private limo companies with as part of RTA’s drive to deliver integrated transit services addressing the needs of the local community in Dubai.
Dr Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency, said, “The rising demand for specialized transit services, such as limousines, has boosted the integration drive aimed sustaining the improvement of service offering and ensuring the diversity of transit options to meet the preferences and aspirations of a wide spectrum of community members.
“During the initial phase, 90 deluxe vehicles have been linked with the booking and dispatch Center under a specific agreement signed between the Dubai Taxi Corporation and some private firms running limo service such as (Presidential, On Call, and Royal Luxury Limousines) ,” he explained.
The booking and dispatch center received up to last month more than 4000 requests for this sort of vehicles.
In the same context, Al Ali pointed out that “Limo vehicles have several features that keep them a class apart from ordinary taxi cabs, as they offer the luxury and privacy expected by VIPs.”
“The Limousine fleet, added Al Ali, features a variety of deluxe models of the latest luxurious brands boasting attractive features and eye-catching designs. They are fitted with stylish Android-operated Galaxy meters, and driven by cabbies donned in elegant black suit and hat who are expert professionals in providing such premium services.”
“Limousines can be availed via the Booking and Despatch Centre via an express service with the airport booking; which is highly accessible, specifically at peak hours, and the service is available at key spots such as the Dubai Mall, thus obviating the need to wait for ordinary taxis. The DTC assigns exceptional attention to providing customers with on-time transit services to their destinations throughout the day on board highly convenient and safe vehicles,” continued Al Ali.
“Linking Limousines with the Booking and Despatch Centre and integrating Limousine’s meters with the Dispatcher System, is a means of compiling a database linked with the booking & dispatch system, besides tracking & establishing the geographical locations of these vehicles likewise other means of transport,” elaborated Al Ali.
“As part of its endeavours to meet the needs of all customers, the RTA launched last November a distinctive black-and-white taxi fleet branded as Hala Taxi, designated solely to address the bookings made through the Booking and Despatch Centre on the same terms and provisions applicable to ordinary taxi cabs,” concluded Al Ali in.
