Dubai Municipality flower gifts to residents
Dubai Municipality will gift residents with beautiful flowering plants today (Tuesday).
The civic officials plan to hand over 2.25 million saplings between 4pm and 6pm.
Residents can head to one of eight locations – Nad Al Hammar Park, Al Khawaneej Residential Area, Al Towar Centre, Al Barsha Pond Park, Umm Sequiem Park, Al Manara Centre, Al Habab Park and Al Aweer Park.
This initiative is undertaken to acknowledge and applaud the hard work and sacrifices by the country’s armed forces. ‘Thank You Armed Forces’ reads the sticker on the flower trays.
Organised by the Parks and Horticulture department, nine million flower pots will be given away until January 7.
“One million saplings for every year of glory,” read a catchphrase of the venture. “2.25million saplings will be gifted to #Dubai residents today. Join us to have your own beautiful flowering plants,” read the tweet from the Dubai Municipality’s official handle.
The flower pots contain marigold and petunia and will be handed over to the residents across 30 locations.
