Dubai Municipality has signed an agreement with Emirates Livestock & Meat Products Trading Company aiming at protecting and merciful slaughtering of livestock.

This comes as part of the keenness of DM to apply the approved international regulations in livestock care as well as to ensure the animal care standards in importing and handling the livestock.

Zuhoor Al Sabbagh, Director of Public Health Services Department of Dubai Municipality, and Hisham Hassan Gazal from  Emirates Livestock signed the agreement in the presence of senior officials of both parties.

Zuhoor said that based on the agreement the Dubai Abattoirs Section will comply with entire standards related to the livestock care including handling and transportation of livestock as stipulated by the International Organization for Livestock Care.

“The agreement also stipulates to take care of imported animals from the point of reaching to Dubai Abattoirs as well as to ensure the merciful slaughtering in accordance with the rules of the International Organization for Livestock Care,” she said.

“The slaughtering point should be provided with facilities complying with the regulations and suitable infrastructure for the animals. The selection of expert slaughters and tools also should be taken care of as per the agreement. The agreement also ensures the proper record and follow up of animals available in Dubai Abattoirs and its farms,” she added.
