Dubai-New York Emirates flight diverted over medical emergency

Emirates flight EK203 from Dubai to New York JFK was diverted early on Wednesday to Sweden over a medical emergency.

The A380 superjumbo, which departed Dubai at around 3am, was diverted to Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport when a child on board reportedly fell ill. Eye witnesses to the incident reported on social media that two ambulances met the plane on the tarmac.

In a statement, the airline confirmed the incident with Emirates 24|7 saying: “Emirates flight EK203 from Dubai to JFK on February 18 was diverted to Stockholm due to a passenger medical emergency.  The sick passenger was assisted off the aircraft to receive medical attention.”

The spokesperson added: “Emirates apologises for any inconvenience. The safety of our passengers and crew is of paramount importance.”

According to live aviation tracker, Flightradar 24, EK203 has resumed its journey to New York.
