Dubai Police foiled an attempt by a woman to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic drugs through Dubai International Airport in January, according to Major General Abdul Jalil Mahdi Al Asmawi, director of the anti-narcotics department at Dubai Police and deputy chairman of Higher Committee for Combating Drugs at the Ministry of Interior.
The police had received a tip-off that an African woman was on her way from Sao Paulo in Brazil to Johannesburg in South Africa via Dubai with narcotic drugs. The accused was monitored until the plane landed in Dubai, Maj Gen Asmawi said.
He expressed satisfaction at the cooperation between local and international authorities to control the narcotic drugs trade in the UAE.
