Dubai Police stops 26 women from racing in Jumeirah
The Bur Dubai Police Station have stopped 73 drivers, including 26 females, from racing on Jumeirah road.
Those held have signed a pledge not to engage in street racing again, Al Bayan newspaper reports.
Colonel Abdullah Khadim Srour Al Masam, Director of the Al Barsha Police Station, told Al Bayan that this was part of a traffic campaign that ended on January 6, 2016.
He pointed out that the campaign was conducted after receiving repeated complaints from the public.
He added that the police received several complaints from residents in the Jumeirah area that groups of cars with loud noises used to race in a dangerous manner, especially on weekends and holidays.
He added that the traffic and awareness campaign kicked in after the police filmed some of the cars that indulged in racing on the street.
