Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Jumma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has decided to pay for the treatment of a four-year-old Afghan girl who needs bone marrow transplant in India.

“Sheikha Hind’s decision illustrates her keenness to care for people, including citizens and expatriates. This is not strange for the UAE sheikhs and leaders,” said Abdul Rahman Al Oughani, Director of Foreign Relations and Information Department at Dubai Health Authority.

He told 'Emarat Al Youm' daily that the DHA is in touch with a hospital in India to facilitate the travel of Khadija, who suffers from bone marrow problems since birth.

The decision to treat the child came after EAY published her ordeal and her family’s inability to afford medical expenses.

“We are very grateful for Sheikha Hind for this generous and humanitarian gesture. This gesture has restored hope in the family that our child will live a normal life,” Khadija’s father said.
