Update: Al Mawakeb School in Al Barsha and Al Garhoud have confirmed both branches will remain closed on Thursday in lieu of the Dubai Tour, which kicked off today in midst of road closures and diversions.
Dubai schools will remained open on the first day of the four-day Dubai Tour, even as the Dubai police announced that key roads will be closed during the event.
Earlier there were reports that the schools might be closed due to the road closures.
However, Dubai’s education regulatory body – Knowledge and Human Development Authority – informed Emirates24|7 that no such decision was taken.
The KHDA added that they were sending a communication to schools to ensure they put safety precautions in place where necessary.
This point was further reiterated through their official twitter handle.
“Affected schools are free to decide whether to close for Dubai Tour, keeping the safety of students in mind,” it read.
They advised the schools to check which roads will be closed during the four-day period and to make alternate arrangements.
