Dubai traffic update: Al Wasl, Mankhool jams
As all schools reopen today after the winter break, pockets of traffic have been reported across Dubai, Sharjah and the highway to Abu Dhabi, with reports of 30-45 minute delays in the morning commute.
An accident was earlier reported by commuters on Al Mankhool Street heading towards Sheikh Zayed Road, in Bur Dubai, blocking two out of the three lanes, with tailbacks stretching towards Khalid bin Waleed Street.
Motorists reported being stuck in traffic for at least 30 minutes around 7.30am this morning.
Commuters also reported traffic being back up on Al Wasl Road, in front of Union Coop Supermarket, heading towards Jumeirah from Bur Dubai.
There have also been reports of traffic backing up at the National Paints junction in Sharjah, heading into Dubai, with a similar situation on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
No accidents have been reported in either place. Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports of traffic lights shutting down at a cross-section in Business Bay. Further details are awaited.
