E-signature on Emirates ID card from next year

Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) will launch its electronic signature on identity cards in the middle of next year, on a trial basis, according to an Al Khaleej newspaper report.

The new technology will allow the holder of the ID card to dispense with the written signature and sign transactions electronically, said Dr Ali Mohammad Khouri, Director General of Eida.

Dr Khouri added, “The ID card will offer three unique features - the card itself, the Pin code of the ID and the fingerprint, allowing multiple options for uses of the card.”
