Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chairwoman of Emirates Youth Council, announced the Council had joined forces with the Emirates Mars Mission team to launch a report on Youth and the Hope Spacecraft as part of the Youth Data hub.

The new cooperation aims to provide comprehensive information about the working team on the Mars exploration project (Al Amal Probe) and shed light on the project’s requirements, in addition to supporting the State’s vision to develop the national space agency and increase the abilities of people qualified to work in this field.

Shamma AlMazrui highlighted the Council’s efforts, which include this initiative to involve a large number or organisations, as well as public and private bodies, to allow the council to identify their needs and requirements.

Omran Sharaf, Project Manager of the UAE's first Mission to Mars (Hope),said the project and the council share the same goals, stressing their keenness to promote UAE youth and build upon their abilities to contribute to the building of the nation and inspire the entire region.

He added that cooperation in the probe project in the UAE serves to create a system to guarantee the establishment of an economy based on knowledge, innovation and creativity.

The report revealed that youths below age 30 represent 75 percent of the team working on the project, while females represent 30 percent, which is more than double the rate of women in the US NASA space agency.

The report also revealed the need to recruit youth in the fields of chemistry, biology, programming, astrophysics and astronomy.
