European uses fake Abu Dhabi parking tickets

An Abu Dhabi court sentenced a European man to suspended three months in jail for using fake parking tickets in his car, the first case of its kind in the capital.

An inspector from Mawaqif, an affiliate of the Department of Transport, suspected that the ticket displayed in the defendant’s car was forged as it carried a wrong serial number. He informed the police, who found 12 other fake parking tickets in the car.

The European told court that he had bought the tickets from an Asian man but did not know they were forged.
