Fake dirham notes seized in RAK

Ras Al Khaimah Police has arrested three members of a gang which was trying to dispose of forged currency notes worth Dh49,000.

A member of the gang was nabbed while he was trying to transfer funds at a money exchange.

He told police that he received counterfeit money from a person whose name he did not know.

The second suspect was picked up from a neighbouring emirate.

The third suspect and leader of the group was arrested while trying to leave the UAE through a land port.

RAK Police chief Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Naimi praised CID officers for arresting the three suspects.

Colonel Abdullah Menkhis, director of RAK Criminal Investigation Department, called on workers in money exchanges to be carefully check bank notes they receive from clients to avoid fraud. He urged them to immediately inform the police if they discover forged currency notes.
