A fire broke out at dawn at Abu Dhabi Marina Yacht Club breakwater, with the Ministry of Interior confirming the incident on its social media account.
Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, was personally at the site to oversee the emergency procedures.
No deaths were reported after the fire broke out in two boats and engulfed six other moored boats in the marina, at Abu Dhabi Breakwater
Firefighters managed to stop the flames from spreading 211 boats and 23 jet skis in the area.
At the site, Sheikh Saif made sure the fire was put out with no human casualties.
The general commander of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior, Major General Jassem Mohammed Al Marzouqi, called on yacht-owners to abide by public safety rules to avoid such incidents.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, Lt. Colonel Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, director-general of Abu Dhabi Civil Defence said.
