Multiple accidents and bad weather have delayed morning commuters’ journey from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.

An eyewitness reported three accidents before Ghantoot. Her tweet at 7.19am read, “3 accidents just before Ghantoot about 500 meters apart heading towards Abu Dhabi, 3 lanes blocked.”

Another driver tweeted around the same time. “On my way to Abu Dhabi, it's traffic foggy and accidents all over way. Be careful.”

“Multiple accidents on E11 Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road and foggy weather causing massive congestion. Please drive safe,” read the tweet from TrafficDXB handle.

Update: E11 clear now, says latest tweet.

At 8.50am, a commuter confirmed the E11 was cleared. “E11 road is clear now heading towards Abu Dhabi from the truck road onwards,” the tweet read.

Weather bureau NCMS had this morning issued warnings of poor weather this morning. “NCMS warns against fog formation with poor visibility over some coastal and internal areas during early morning.”

Drivers reported heavy fog, and low visibility, citing them as possible reasons for the accidents.

At 8.20am, TrafficDXB reported, “Heavy traffic congestion on WTC roundabout & on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi. Please drive with caution.”

At 7am, a driver tweeted, “End of summer. Sheikh Zayed road 26°c, 20 metres visibility, traffic standstill enroute Abu Dhabi.”

A commuter tipped to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

“Advice for anyone going to Abu Dhabi from Dubai you should take truck road due to accidents on Sheikh Zayed Road.”
