Four drug smugglers serving life sentences in Abu Dhabi will be free and deported from the UAE after they were included in presidential pardon for many prisoners, press reports said on Tuesday.
The Federal Supreme Court overturned sentences by an earlier court to keep them in jail after they appealed for freedom under the presidential amnesty.
Newspapers did not identify the four, who had been seized while smuggling drugs aboard a ship in the emirate.
“The Supreme Court ruled that the criminal case against those four has expired since they were included in the presidential pardon,” the Dubai-based Arabic language daily 'Emarat Al Youm' said.
