Fresh sandstorms are being reported this evening in parts of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with the weatherman predicting associated rains to cool the weather a bit later in the night.
Emirates 24|7 readers have reported a blowing sandstorm in the Emirates Hills area of Dubai, with traffic moving slowly in various parts of the city due to hazy conditions. There also have been unconfirmed reports of a sandstorm in Mirdif and Al Warqa’a areas of Dubai.
The weatherman at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) is forecasting the hot and hazy weather to continue for the next few days. Today’s NCMS forecast reads: “Hot weather in general and hazy at times, with a chance of some towering clouds over the eastern mountains by afternoon, may extend over some interiors, and associated by some rain.”
The weather will cool down a bit due to moderate winds, according to NCMS, which is predicting “light to moderate winds, freshening at times, causing blowing dust over some areas.”
Even as the weather cools down, humidity levels are set to remain high, with today’s humidity high at 90 per cent in coastal areas and 70 per cent in internal areas of the country. “Sea is slight to moderate,” the NCMS forecast says.
