Sharjah Police arrested eight Afghans on Friday for allegedly robbing bank customers.
All of them have past criminal records against them.
Their arrests followed several complaints from residents who claimed that they were robbed of cash immediately after they had withdrawn money from ATMs and banks.
The attackers would soon flee the place, making it difficult for them to nab the culprits.
According to a police source, all robberies had the same modus operandi.
While, two men had been residing illegally in the emirate after their tourist visa expired, others were wanted in other cases.
A few of them had been deported earlier and had entered the country illegally. They sneaked in through the borders with the intention of making money.
