Get full car history when buying used wheels in UAE

Deals on used cars are very attractive these days as many expats relocate from the UAE during the summer months. But with good deals it’s prudent to ensure that the car you intend to buy is trouble free not only to enjoy a smooth ride but also to avoid any unexpected expenses in the coming years.

Many car dealers in used car markets around the GCC buy junk or scrap cars from US and other market and may sell it to you. Moreover, expats looking to leave quickly may not reveal the flaws of the car to you. The best bet here is to take the car to an expert and get it checked for any hidden problems or get a full car report that can give you comprehensive insights into its history.

UAE classified website Dubizzle is now offering this service with CarReport, an independent information provider on used cars. While scanning their pages to get a used car, you can also get a full vehicle history.

How does it work?

Through this service, car-sellers will be asked to enter the vehicle identification number (VIN) when posting an ad. This will then be used to generate the vehicle history and create a report that buyers can purchase and download for Dh99.

“New car sales in the UAE are approximately 400,000 cars per year whereas used cars sales exceed 600,000 vehicles per year. Information about the history, accidents and values are, therefore, essential for each consumer intending to buy a used car. The average value for a used car is approximately Dh55,000. It therefore is a very small investment to track the cars history and get an in-depth report before making this significant investment,” said Pascal Persoon, CEO of CarReport.

The report is available in both English and Arabic and it will reveals things like the number of accidents a car has been involved in, any structural damage the car has incurred, mileage check, the market value of the car, approximate finance and insurance premium and any manufacturer recalls on the specific model.

The report also validates the details of the car to ensure that the specifications match those advertised by the seller and helps buyers avoid being a victim of ‘mileage rollback’ by displaying the true mileage of the car.
