Girl child falls to death in Dubai as mom goes for New Year

A five-year-old girl fell to death from her third floor apartment in Dubai’s International City after she was left alone by her mother who went out with friends to mark the New Year.

Police said the girl died on impact after she hit the pavement near the building.

“The child was left alone at home…her mother went out with friends to celebrate the New Year,” a police source said, quoted by ‘Emarat Al Youm’ daily.

The source said the mother had been summoned to police station and that legal measures would be taken against her.

The paper did not identify the child and her mother.
