An S3 which was selling for Dh2089 on the first day of the show can today be purchased for as less as Dh1400 - a straight drop of almost Dh689.

On the first day of the show retailers were offering gift vouchers worth Dh200 along with the S3, while the second and third days saw Samsung’s premier smart phone drop by Dh500.

Retailers were not only offering gift vouchers but straight cash back with the smartphone.

On Friday, the third day of the Shopper, some retailers have gone a step ahead and are offering additional discounts to the tune of almost Dh600 and additional bundles worth Dh100 to D150, bringing the actual value of the smartphone to something around Dh1300.

“The phone is selling like hot cakes and is currently number one. We are trying to clear the stocks as quickly as possible before the S4 hits the market,” says Mueez Rahman, General Manager of E-City.

One Mobile is offering an S3 with a Dh200 gift voucher that can be claimed on the purchase of the smart phone apart from a 7” tablet, two du SIM cards worth Dh110 and a spin and win offer that can definitely win you a gift starting from a phone.

Before Gitex started the sales of Galaxy S3 had actually dropped due to lack of any significant price discounts. In fact several retailers had said that the Note 2 was selling better than the Galaxy S3.

“Apple products are the only ones with very few offers and discounts,” says a staff member at the Jacky’s store. The iPhone5 is priced at Dh2749 for 16GB. While some retailers are offering a Sim card free, others are bundling the phones with Dh300 to Dh500 worth of products.

Meanwhile, One Mobile is attracting customers with phones as less as Dh46. The prices of smartphones have dropped down so much that customers can get a low end model for less than Dh300.

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket S5301 with a 2.8” TFT screen, powered by 850MHz processor and an Android 4.0 icecream sandwich is priced at Dh299. You also get a free Sim card along with the smartphone.

Also priced at Dh299 is a Lava smartphone with a 3.2” touch screen an running android 2.3.6 Gingerbread and it also comes with a KKT115 feature phone free. Nokia’s Asha 306 is priced at Dh306 and is one of the fast moving models.
