Fresh graduates and students from the UAE found a unique opportunity to make their debut in the job market.

‘Speed interviews’ is a new technique to hit the job market strategy. The concept, much like speed dating, allows both the candidate and company to assess each other's potential in a short time-frame. It helps expose the applicant to a large number of hiring companies, thereby maximizing the chance of finding a job.

InternsME organised a similar platform earlier this month to provide employers and candidates an opportunity to meet and network, without using the traditional interview mode.

Employers interacted with students from top UAE universities, with backgrounds ranging from Business to Marketing, Finance and others.

“A lot of good, talented young grads came to speak, some with extremely impressive CVs and great elevator pitches. I was highly impressed and enjoyed the format,” said Eamon Sallam, ‎chief operating officer at Elevision Media.

Carol D’Souza from Intel echoed the same sentiment. “The turnout was excellent; I’ve never seen anything like this before. There are so many talented fresh graduates out there and this is a nice way to meet them because the speed interview session helps find the right candidate much faster… I think this is a great way of doing it.”

Judging by the great response to ‘speed interviews’, organisers are planning to host more such sessions in early 2015.

InternsME.com was launched two years ago by a group of Dubai-based entrepreneurs, dedicated to connect university students and fresh graduates in the UAE with top companies for internships, traineeship and entry-level job opportunities.
